Moody Mare?

It all comes down to balanced hormones

Hormones are complex, they are produced by the endocrine system, reproductive system, and the liver. Proper nutrition and balance of minerals helps the endocrine organs to produce the right hormones with just the right balance.

Every essential function in the body is controlled by hormones. The endocrine system is very complex and communicates with all the other systems of the body, including the digestive, neurological, hepatic, and reproductive.

Hormones are the bodies chemical messengers in the bloodstream, informing many different functions in the body from metabolism, growth and development, reproduction, to mood. Hormones out of balance can affect the rest cycle (circadian rhythm) water intake, electrolyte balance, weight gain or loss, blood sugar levels, energy, etc.

All horses, not just moody mares, benefit from balanced hormones; from the pre-metobolic gelding with a cresty neck, to the aggressive unruly stud that has become dangerous to handle… these are the kind of horses that herbs help to regain their optimal health. When a horse is experiencing symptoms like excessive weight gain, fatty pads, excessive weight loss, lack of muscle tone, poor attitude, aggressive behavior, depression, swelling or fluid retention in the legs or sheath/udders, allergies, not cycling/coming into heat, trouble getting pregnant, etc… these are all signs from the body telling us that there are hormones out of balance.

This is why when I do an energetic evaluation on a horse, after first checking the brain/neurological system, I then check for weaknesses in every organ of the endocrine system. The hypothalamus, thyroid, pituitary gland, parathyroid, adrenals, liver, and reproductive.

I then muscle test which herbal blend will be the best to bring the weak system back into balance. I have 7 different blends to address imbalances in the endocrine system alone!

A Story

This was a conversation that I had the other day, and it’s like many I’ve heard over the years… “I want to get my mare bred this year, but she just won’t come into heat, she’s been right next to the stud, I’ve got her on all the best feeds, I just don’t know what’s wrong!”

I get excited, because I know I can help… because with kinesiology and the energetic evaluations, balancing the hormones with herbs, when you can identify the weak system, works like magic!! Better than “Mare Magic”!!!!

I reply “…sounds like a hormone issue, that’s easy! I can do an evaluation for you and see what system needs support. The herbs will help really fast.

And the response I get is “… no, no, I’ll just call my vet and get her a hormone shot, and make her come into heat to get her bred.”

I hear this so often. And it is so sad. A mare not coming into heat is telling you that something is out of balance. Why is the expectation to just get pregnant… why is it not normal practice to make sure that the mare you’re breeding is super heathy, and hormonally balanced, so she can grow a healthy strong baby??

Injecting artificial hormones just covers up the problem. The same is true for horses with early cushings, or other metabolic symptoms. Cleaning up the diet from processed grain products, by-products, soy, corn, and excess oils, and providing access to high quality minerals, and supplementing with herbs almost always improves the condition. The body was made to heal itself if given the right nutrients.

I’m ready to help your broodmare have the best pregnancy, and help your older gelding regulate his blood sugar. I can help your moody performance mare start to love her job again.
